An active investigation into a possible kidnapping attempt during the annual Ukiah Chili Cook-Off is underway. The Ukiah Police Department is looking into the incident, in which an unknown male approached a woman’s two-year-old daughter, grabbed her by the hand, and tried to leave the area with her. The mother and a friend intervened and the man fled the scene on foot. According to MendoFever, the man is described as a “very tan male, approximately 5’ 10”, 200-220 lbs, aged 35-45, wearing a brown tank top, tan shorts”. 911 was called and a search for the man began. Ukiah PD is asking anyone with information to contact their office.
