Record Break Heat This Holiday Weekend, Governor Declares Heat Emergency

An extended period of hot weather is expected for the Mendocino Interior this weekend. Daytime highs will likely climb to 100 to 110 degrees Saturday through Tuesday, with an excessive heat warning in effect from 11 am Sunday to early Tuesday morning in Central and eastern Mendocino County, including Covelo, Potter Valley, and Ukiah. A flex alert continues, asking electric customers to reduce their usage, and the Governor has declared a state of emergency due to the high temperatures forecast for the weekend.
