Coastal Cleanup Day A Great Success, Locally and Statewide

Dozens of local volunteers joined participants from around the state in the 38th Annual California Coastal Cleanup Day, the state’s largest volunteer event. Volunteers on the 17th gathered hundreds of tons of trash from beaches, shorelines, and inland waterways, in almost all of the state’s 58 counties, with more than 600 in personal cleanup sites in the state, a return to almost normal after the self-guided cleanups during the pandemic. In Lake County, over 2,700 lbs of trash were collected by 70 volunteers over 30 miles.
