n a press release from the Mendocino County Health Department, the 135th county resident to die from the COVID-19 virus is said to be an infant who was not yet eligible for the vaccine due to their age. Dr. Andy Coren said in the release, stating that “Covid-19 has become one of the top three leading causes of death in the state over the last year. It affects people of all ages, as we see with this tragedy, and there has been an increase in children testing positive over the summer.” Deputy Public Health Officer Charlie Evans in the release reminded residents that “getting a free vaccine/booster, masking and social distancing in crowded areas are still the best ways to prevent infections.”
