A lawsuit has been filed against the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in federal court by a group of five conservation and fishing concerns over the Potter Valley Project’s violation of the Endangered Species Act. The Mendocino Voice reports that according to the suing groups, the project’s conditions for harm to protected Chinook salmon and steelhead trout populations — are no longer authorized following the recent expiration of its 50-year license and a 20-year Biological Opinion from the National Marine Fisheries Service.
