The case of the two children abandoned by their caregiver has new details. Edward Two Feathers Steele of Ukiah was charged and is being held for the abandonment of care of the children and the one child’s subsequent death from the heat. Sally M. Arellano of Covelo was arrested in a domestic violence case involving her boyfriend, Steele. While Arellano was being held, Steele told the babysitter who was caring for Arellano’s children that he would take them. Steele then abandoned the children at some point, and that’s when concerned citizens made reports and the children were found. Results of the autopsy on the one-year child have not yet been released.
