One of Lake county’s members of Congress is leading the fight to protect access to contraception. According to the Lake CountyNews, Rep. Mike Thompson was one of the team to introduce the Protecting Access to Contraception Act of 2022, following Justice Clarence Thomas’ opinion stating that the court should reconsider the 1965 court decision recognizing the constitutional right of married adults to access contraception without government restriction. Congressman Thompson is a co-sponsor of the Women’s Health Protection Act which would reverse the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization by codifying Roe v. Wade.
