PG&E Submits Schedule to Surrender Potter Valley Project

On Monday, PG&E submitted a rough schedule to surrender its operating license for the Potter Valley hydropower project to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.   PG& E submitted two and a half year timeline to surrender the license and decommission the project.  Environmentalists are asking for speedy removal of the dams, but PG&E says it plans on replacing the broken transformer that will allow the dams to resume operation, which could take years.  Communities down river from the dams depend on that water, including Potter Valley, Ukiah, Sonoma County, and Mendocino county.
