Permits for Campfires Required in Mendocino National Forest

As of Monday, there will be no campfires allowed in the Mendocino National Forest without a permit.  According to the Mendocino Voice, ongoing drought and warming temperatures prompted Mendocino National Forest officials to issue stage 1 fire-use restrictions.  A press release from the Forest Service says the public can still enjoy a campfire or stove fire in designated fire-safe campgrounds or in Wilderness Areas, but they must have a valid California Campfire Permit.  Applications for campfire permits can be found at permit.preventwildfiresca.org.
