Negotiations between the SEIU Local 1021 and the county continue. The local filed unfair labor practice charges with the state, citing the county’s refusal to comply with a request for public information from the union, asking for documentation needed to participate in bargaining sessions. According to the Mendocino Voice, The union is contending that the county can afford to give union members a cost of living increase and hasn’t, leading to the over 400 unfilled positions within the county. When the charges were filed, the county had not released a budget analysis for fiscal year 2022-23, which it says included that information. The union contends that information would not fulfill their requests. If the county would provide all the information requested, the SEIU says the union would withdraw the charges.
