One in three Mendocino County residents chosen to possibly serve jury duty is not showing up. Court statistics state that more than 12,000 failed to appear. Those no-shows didn’t seek postponements or ask to be excused. Trial court functions everywhere in the state have been disrupted due to COVID-19, however, the growing trend could affect defendants’ right to a speedy trial.
