As part of their budget meeting next week, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors will discuss adding a new sales tax to the November ballot. Funds from the controversial proposed tax would support fire protection and/or water provision, however, there is opposition to the proposed tax, as there is already a library initiative tax on the ballot. Many members believe that two competing taxes are not a good idea during a time of heavy inflation.
