The Lake County Board of Supervisors has announced the resignation of the county’s Public Health Officer, just four months after he was hired for the position. Dr. Erik McLaughlin’s tenure is the shortest of any appointed public health officer in the last two decades. McLaughlin had succeeded Dr. Gary Pace, who resigned to return to private practice. McLaughlin’s appointment followed a 12-month search which cost the county just under $39,000. No reason as to McLaughlin’s resignation has been given and there has been no comment yet on an interim Public Health officer.
