The decision as to whether or not the city of Lakeport will be able to annex South Lakeport will be put to a vote on November 8th by less than 20 property owners in the annexation area. The Lakeport City Council at its last meeting approved a resolution calling for a special municipal election on the issue. The city is seeking to annex 50 parcels totaling 137 acres in the area adjacent to South Main Street and Soda Bay Road and east of Highway 29. A protest of at least 25% of the owners of the parcels included in the proposed annexation has triggered that election.
