With the approval of next year’s budget, the Clearlake City Council has paved the way for a new recreation and events division that will operate under the city’s Administrative Services Department. According to the Lake County News, the division will oversee concerts in the park, the soap box derby, youth activities, and holiday events. Initial startup is being covered partly by the general fund as well as grant funds and event sponsorships. The plan is to have the division be self-funded after two years.
