A bill authored by Senator Mike McGuire that will expedite the burying of electric utility lines has passed the Senate Energy Committee and the Governance & Finance Committee. Undergrounding electric lines decreases the chance of fires starting by 99%. SB 884 will expedite the undergrounding of 10,000 miles of utility lines while saving ratepayers money by using federal infrastructure funds. The bill will now be sent to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
