A burn pile fire that quickly grew out of control is another indicator of how dry much of the vegetation in the Ukiah Valley is, and local fire departments are on alert for fire season already in just the first week of March. Although very much-needed rain is in the forecast, UVFD Battalion Chief Eric Singleton has said everyone needs to be extremely careful. Burn piles must be attended at all times. Singleton says the department is keeping an eye out.
