Sightings of mountain lions are becoming more commonplace in Lake County, with several reported each year. The appearance of one within city limits is still considered unusual, which is why Lakeport is on alert with two different sightings this past Friday. The cat was seen and photographed on Smith Street standing on the deck of a home. It was next spotted in a stand of trees on Bevins Court. Lakeport Police were notified of the appearances. For those concerned, attacks on humans are rare, and there has never been an attack recorded on a human in Lake County, however residents are advised to be mindful of their dogs and cats when outside.
