A man described as having “severe mental health disorders” was arrested and is being held on charges of attempted murder, assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon and burglary after an incident Monday morning where he broke into an apartment and threatened the occupants with a homemade spear. Andrew McConnell Custer of Ukiah was pushed out of the apartment and when officers arrived he was trying to break into another apartment through the window. Custer is known by the department and ultimately an officer tazed him and was able to handcuff him. UPD reports there is no motive for the attack. He is being held in the Mendocino County Jail.
