A technician who’s been with the library for 32 years is retiring. Jan Cook started in 1989. For six years starting in 1992 she was the only employee of the Upper Lake Library. She began full-time at the Lakeport library in 1998. Cook has been a resource to the community, developing a deep knowledge of Lake County history, assisting residents with historical and genealogical research and finding books outside the library system for patrons. Cook was also instrumental in bringing the California State Library funded ZipBooks program to Lake County, which is again available. Jan will be at the library next Wednesday from 11am – 1pm to say farewell, all are welcome.
