In a joint meeting of the Lakeport City Council and the Board of Supervisors earlier in the week, both entities voted unanimously to approve the city’s proposed annexation of the Southport project area, comprising 50 parcels that run along South Main and Soda Bay Road. According to the Lake County News, a strong fiscal analysis of the final agreement showed revenue neutrality and gave both the city and county enough revenue to cover their services. The matter of waste water services expansion will be worked out in separate negotiations. More information on the annexation can be found at lakeportannexation.org.
