The Konocti Unified School District has received a $1.6 million Assistance for the Arts Education Program grant from the U.S. Department of education to put music back into primary school education in the area. Konocti was one of eight districts in California to be awarded this year. A total of 27 grants were given. The grant will be disbursed to the district over the next four years and according to the Lake County News, District music teacher and band director Katherine Wiley says the plan is to have the new music program ready for the 2022-2023 school year.
