Ukiah Police Chief Reports to City Council on Masking Mandate Protests

In his report to the Ukiah City Council last week, Police Chief Noble Waidelich said that while there has been no criminal activity connected with the recent masking ordinance protests, his department is mindfully observing the activity and is prepared to prosecute any violations of the law. Waidelich described the protests as misguided, as the businesses targeted do not make the rules regarding health orders. He says the departement, after meeting with the city attorney, has a strategy to reduce the risks for businesses, the city and the department.
