Lane County Board of Supers Decides Not to Take Action on Splitting Departments

At its meeting on Tuesday, the Lane County Board of Supervisors decided not to take action on a proposal from the County Administrative Office to once again consider splitting the Water Resources Department from the Department of Public Works. The county is expecting a sizeable amount of infrastructure funding in the next couple of years due to the infrastructure bill and Carol Huchingson, County Administrative Officer said she put the issue on the agenda in order to get a jump on considering whether it made sense to split the departments. No consensus was reached during the meeting, so it appears the board will wait until a five-year plan for the departments to be completed sometime in February.
