Saturday morning, community members and both city and county leaders were on hand at the Lakeport Fire Station 50 to officially welcome the district’s new fire engine and five new paid staff members. The Pierce Enforcer 1500 type 1 Pumper engine was “pushed in” to it’s new home by firefighters and officials, as is the tradition. The equipment was ordered a year ago and paid for by the Measure M fire tax, which votes approved in May of 2019. A brief swearing in ceremony was also held for new firefighters,Nathan Barnett, Derek Reisbeck, John Tyson, Sean Thomas and Travis Hindmarch.
