A Ukiah man was arrested after attempting to escape police in Willits recently. Lawrence Ortiz, during a traffic stop, reportedly drove on the wrong side of the road against oncoming traffic in an attempt to evade a Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputy. Ortiz was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving suspended or revoked, evading an officer and violating his probation. He was booked into the Mendocino County jail under $20K bond.
