Late last week, Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies intervened when a female inmate attempted suicide in her cell. During a safety and welfare check, the inmate was observed to be in her cell with something around her neck. Emergency medical services were summoned as jail medical staff assessed her condition. The inmate was transported to a local hospital for examination and then returned to the facility. She is being kept under observation by mental health staff at the jail.
