COVID-19 Cases See Uptick in Mendocino County

Although COVID-19 cases seem to be on the decline statewide, Mendocino County’s case rate remains high, almost twice that of neighboring Sonoma county. Over the last couple of weeks, there have been roughly 250 new cases seen. Although the hospitalization rate is still currently manageable, there is concern from local doctors and facilities regarding the surge. A large proportion of those going to the ER with symptoms are unvaccinated. At the beginning of the week, Mendocino County Public Health officials reported that 43 new cases had been reported among local residents for a total of 8,101 and seven were hospitalized, three of whom are in Intensive Care.
