Westside Community Park was closed to the public yesterday. According to the City of Lakeport, over the past several weeks, the soccer fields at the park have been seriously damaged on multiple occasions by large packs of feral pigs. Staff from Lakeport Public Works spent several hours repairing the most recent damage.
In response, the city is working with local law enforcement and State and Federal wildlife management agencies to develop and implement a plan to haze and trap the feral pigs to eliminate this ongoing problem, which has resulted in significant repair costs.
