The Ukiah Valley Fire Authority has determined that Wednesday afternoon’s Highway Fire was intentionally set. Residents in the hills east of Ukiah were evacuated after the fire that started on River Street at Highway 101 quickly spread east. The Highway Fire reached approximately 30 acres before forward progress was stopped. Investigators say the fire started in the creek bed – an area where there are signs of encampments.
