Lake and Mendocino County Health Officials Give COVID Updates

Mendocino County’s Public Health Officer gave an update on the COVID situation on Friday, Dr. Andy Coren said 16 people are currently hospitalized and seven are in the ICU. In addition, Coren reported the county’s 53rd COVID-related death, a 57-year-old woman from Ukiah. The county’s indoor mask mandate for people regardless of vaccination status goes into effect tomorrow.

Public Health officials in Lake County sounded the alarm as they say the county’s COVID-19 case rate is nearly three times the state average, and over the past month, Lake County has had the highest case rate in the state. As of Friday, 15 Lake County residents are hospitalized due to COVID-19, with five in ICU.
