A couple of fires broke out yesterday. CAL FIRE Mendocino responded to the Kirk Fire near 5723 Kirk Dr. in Redwood Valley at 12:50 PM. Forward progress was stopped just after 2PM. The fire ended up burning 23 acres. 2 outbuildings were destroyed and 1 outbuilding was damaged.
A wildland fire in Clearlake caused evacuations. The fire in the area of Wilkinson and Dam Road was first reported shortly after 5 p.m., yesterday. The fire reportedly started with a vehicle fire which spread into the vegetation prompting mandatory evacuations for Wilkinson to 8th. As of last night, the fire was at 20 acres, 75% contained, and forward progress stopped.
Nearly 2,600 customers in southern Lake County were without of power yesterday evening. The outage was related to the fire in Clearlake due to downed power lines and threatened high tension lines.
