A teacher from Middletown has been named 2021’s Lake County Teacher of the Year. Michelle Mackey sixth grade teacher at Minnie Cannon Elementary School, was awarded the title. She began her teaching career after volunteering in the classroom when her children were young, and was inspired by their preschool teacher Brandy Fischer, who is now principal at Minnie Cannon. Mackey is now in the running to be the California Teacher of the Year.
