The City of Lakeport is preparing to deal with illegal fireworks for the July 4th holiday. Each year, the Police Department files an Illegal Fireworks Police Operation Plan with the City Council which identifies areas where illegal fireworks were a problem last year and how law enforcement will deal with those areas this year. The report showed last year’s problem areas included the city’s parklands; Willopoint; major shopping centers; the Lakeport Unified School District campuses; and the residential districts surrounding those areas.
