The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office says Inmate Services is bringing back some of the programs that historically have helped inmates the most when transitioning back into the community. Among them, the classroom will open again for GED students, with the help of a teacher from Ukiah High. MCSO says helping inmates while at the jail, helps them start a better life when they leave, lowers recidivism rates, and allows them to become an asset to the community. MCSO says they have several new programs they’re hoping to start this year.
