Lake County’s public health officer called the current COVID-19 positivity rate a “remarkable improvement.” In an update Friday, Dr. Gary Pace said the county’s test positivity rate is 4.9 percent but advised that the current case rate is 11 cases per 100,000 people, meaning the virus remains widespread. Pace does believe the county will drop from the purple tier to the red tier in the state blueprint for a safe economy in the coming weeks.
