Two Ukiah Police officers were injured during a recent arrest. On Saturday, officers were dispatched to Motel 6, on South State Street, regarding man who was causing a disturbance. The UPD report says Artemio Ortega-Reyes displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a stimulant and become confrontational. For safety reasons, an Officer attempted to detain Ortega-Reyes who resisted. During the altercation, an Officer suffered a broken hand, and another Officer sustained an injury. Ortega-Reyes was ultimately taken into custody and a subsequent search of his pockets revealed suspected methamphetamine and a pipe.
