COVID-19 Outbreak at Mendocino County Jail Expands

The COVID-19 outbreak at the Mendocino County Jail continues to expand. The Sheriff’s office reports that at least one inmate was hospitalized last week as the outbreak expanded to include 73 people testing positive. A total of 63 inmates had tested positive for the virus as of January 2nd, and there were 39 active cases at the jail. As of Saturday morning, 17 inmates have recovered from the virus since the outbreak was detected on December 19th when a corrections deputy tested positive. As of January. 2nd, 13 employees had tested positive for the virus, with five cleared to return to work.
