State Adjusting Tier for COVID-19 Vaccinations

The state is adjusting its vaccination tier to allow for people under age 65 with severe illness or disabilities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine earlier. California Health and Human Services announced that effective March 15th, health care providers will have additional flexibility to vaccinate individuals age 16 to 64 who have underlying health conditions or high-risk disabilities. Its estimated four to six million Californians are in those groups. There are currently 13 million people now eligible in the first tier, which includes Phase 1A, and Phase 1B, which includes people age 65 and above.
