As the July 4th holiday approaches, local officials remind residents that Safe & Sane Fireworks are only allowed in the City of Lakeport between July 1 and July 4. They are illegal in all other areas of Lake County. Possession or transportation of illegal fireworks can lead to a possible fine of up to $50,000 as well as prison or jail for up to one year. Anyone who causes a fire, including those started with safe and sane fireworks, can be held liable for the costs of its suppression and associated property damage.
