Jail Staff Save Man Who Tired to Commit Suicide

An inmate who tried to hang himself was saved yesterday by Mendocino County Jail staff, who were alerted to the attempted suicide by a fellow inmate. Correctional deputies were able to lift the 32-year-old man and relieve pressure long enough to untie a sheet that he had fashioned into a noose from around his neck. The deputies confirmed the man was breathing and had a pulse, just as jail medical staff arrived. He transported to an area hospital for assessment of any injuries.
