DA Seeks to Disqualify Judge from Animal Cruelty and Firearms Cases

The Mendocino County District Attorney’s office is seeking to disqualify a coast judge from animal cruelty, and firearm cases. The move comes after Superior Court Judge Clayton Brennan allowed a woman who shot her dog multiple times in December 2019, to have her felony animal cruelty conviction be reduced to a misdemeanor with no jail time. The German Shepherd was rescued and survived. The DA’s office is seeking appellate review of Brennan’s decision in this case.
