A Covelo man was arrested last week on suspicion of murdering his cousin. According to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office, on the morning of September 4th, the Covelo Fire Department was dispatched to an injured male on the roadway near the intersection of Crawford Road and Henderson Road. They arrived to find 25-year-old William Bettega, deceased. A vehicle that was located in the Short Creek drainage just east of Biggar Lane in Covelo with damage to the exterior was identified as being primarily utilized by 23-year-old Christopher Bettega. Following a search of his residence, Bettega was arrested for murder.
