CA Considering Nation’s Largest Rent Forgiveness Program

California is currently debating the nation’s largest rent forgiveness program. If approved, the program would fully forgive the unpaid rent of low-income tenants accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic. The program would cost $5.2 billion as part of a larger $100 billion pandemic-recovery package.

City of Clearlake Approves Historical Budget

The Clearlake City Council this week approved the city’s new 2021-22 fiscal year budget. City Manager Alan Flora said teh $57 million dollar budget it’s the largest budget in the city’s history, mainly because of capital projects. Some of those projects include more than $7 million for the airport and $4 million for Lakeshore Drive.

Public Health Officer Reports on Bump in COVID-19 Cases

Public Health Officer Dr. Andy Coren is advising residents that the COVID-19 pandemic isn’t over yet. Coren told the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors this week, that the county has experienced a bump in cases with recent holidays and graduations, and he expects that to continue with the upcoming July 4th holiday and summer travel.

A couple of fires broke out yesterday. CAL FIRE Mendocino responded to the Kirk Fire near 5723 Kirk Dr. in Redwood Valley at 12:50 PM. Forward progress was stopped just after 2PM.
