A Lakeport man charged with assault and making threats has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. Morgan Matthew Jack was arrested in May and taken into custody on multiple counts, including assault with a deadly weapon. In a press release from the Eureka Police Department, Eureka residents Brandon Haselip and Michelle McDonald were arrested in Eureka on charges of armed robbery that occurred in Mendocino County. Both were booked into the Humboldt County jail on the Mendocino warrants.
Lake County’s jobless numbers are looking up, November improved enough to give the county it’s lowest unemployment numbers since the beginning of the pandemic. Lake County recorded a 5.8% jobless rate last month, as compared to 7.4% in November of 2020. Lake County’s labor force in November totaled 28,340 individuals, of which 1,650 were unemployed.
Power outages are still an issue in the area, from as far north as Round Valley near Covelo to pockets of outages in both the Mendocino and Ukiah areas.
