Ukiah Police arrested a man wielding a machete after a report of a disturbance, violation of a restraining order, and a prolonged standoff with the suspect. Officers dispatched to a residence on Cindee Drive in Ukiah encountered suspect Javier Ramirez, who they knew from previous reports. Officers contacted Ramirez, who was armed with a machete and made threatening motions toward officers. Officers directed Ramirez to drop the weapon and tried to de-escalate the situation, using Tasers several times until Ramirez complied. After he was detained, he expressed his intent to commit suicide by cop. After medical evaluation, Ramirez was booked into the Mendocino County Jail.
