The president of the company that owns gas stations in the area has said if the county denies a use permit for a new gas station in Ukiah, he may sell the site to a local tribe that wants the property, stating that then neighbors will have no say in what can be done with the property, nor will the county reap any tax benefit. The new station has been hotly contested by community members.
