The Mendocino County Museum has been awarded a general operation donation of $500,000 from the William L. Bittenbender Trust. TheMendoVoice reports that type of donation can be used however the institution sees fit. $10,000 of the donation will go toward the 2023-24 budget and the remaining $490,000 will be transferred to the museum’s endowment fund. William L. Bittenbender was the owner of the Bittenbender Lumber Company and was a resident of Mendocino County for over 50 years.
