Clear Lake Hitch Helped by Recent Storms

One upside to the extensive rainy season this year is the spawning season of the endangered Clear Lake Hitch appears to be running with thousands of the threatened species seen to be swimming in local creeks in Kelseyville and Lakeport areas. Water levels in local creeks and streams have been cause for concern regarding the Hitch. And although levels in local creeks and streams have risen, there is also a danger of the fish being pushed into flooded farmer’s fields and then stranded. The Department of Fish and Wildlife has asked that stranded and dead hitch be reported.
