Mendocino, Humboldt, Trinity, and Lake Counties are expected to face at least two more winter systems from the Gulf of Alaska, according to forecasts. Doug Boushey, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Eureka office, warns of snow accumulations of 2-3 feet in mountain passes and gusts up to 55 miles per hour on this morning, resulting in “near blizzard-like conditions.” It could also could bring snow levels down to 1,000’ feet. Drivers should carry chains and avoid travel if possible. Boushey also reminds drivers to stay with their vehicles and conserve fuel when stalled.
